David Guetta with a new song

David Guetta is one of the few house Djs that I can still listen to and to be quite frank I like most of his stuff quite a lot. Not really looking forward to seeing him live, but I keep up with the material he releases. Today I came upon Guetta's NEW song, which is probably going to be included in a possible future album. "Love Takes Over" is the title of the new track and vocals are provided by Kelly Rowland (ex-Destiny's Child), who came back to business with the Freemasons remix of her song "Work". I am a bit surprised of such a collaboration, but I guess both parties could use some extra fan-base or at least more media attention. "Love Takes Over" is not utterly impressive or ground-breaking, although I am pretty sure it is going to be quite a hit in the next few months...IF Guetta/Rowland play their cards well. Plus it is always nice when artists from different music scene work together...well, it is even better when they come up with something amazing and still have to be thankful that this song is not a total disaster (at least to most of us).

Moby with a new album on the way and a new video

Less than a year after the release of the album "Last Night" Moby announced a new studio release on its way. The name of the album is "Wait for Me" and it is going to be produced by his label Little Idiot. The official date as stated on moby.com is 30th June and the first single to be available is "Shot in the Back of the Head", which is available for a free download at moby.com. The accompanying video is directed by the famous American film director David Lynch, thus offering quite a change to the usual Moby videos.

"i have some friends/guests singing on the record. they're great singers, but unless you live in fort greene or washington heights you might not know about them, as they're relatively unknown(because i've found that working with friends is almost always nicer than working with rockstars).

Discoveries: Trash Yourself

As I was browsing for new music (how regular of me!) I stumbled upon a free downloadable EP provided by Electrocute themselves at trueanthem.com and afterwards I spent some time checking what's else available. Of course, I immediately headed to the electronic section and started pre-listening to streamable tracks and it was just then when I first heard Trash Yourself. Trash Yourself is an electronic duo, hailing from Oklahoma, USA and consisting of Heidi Cannon and John Bourke. They are currently not signed to any labels, but I am sure that soon they will be offered a contract, cause they just deserve it. Stylistically I would define them as electroclash with a pinch of new-rave.

Ten of my favourite cover songs

Have you ever thought how much of the music we hear every single day is actually original? If you exclude all songs that use samples or that are covers you may be surprised to realize that contemporary music, despite being up to date is lying on the secure foundations of music that has established itself. Cover songs are nothing to be ashamed of, even if you happen to be a super star and sometimes they could be the best mean to attract more attention.

I had to narrow down myself to JUST ten of my favourite cover songs as they turned out to be way too many for a single post. Anyways, they have been randomly selected, but all of them are in one way or another significant to me.

Bulgaria's choice for Eurovision 2009?

First of all, I should admit that I am really not very much into the whole Eurovision song contest, but as a Bulgarian myself I feel the urge to share a few words on the choice for a representative for this year's edition in Moscow. The Bulgarian National Television produced the sloppy and irrelevant reality show called "Be a star", which was to select the best song which would go straight to the finals. Well, let's say that its ratings were hitting the floor and many would qualify the show as boring and annoying even to elderly people or with words "Much ado about nothing".

After several months of selections and pure blabber Bulgaria has its newest Eurovision "star" in the face of Krasimir Avramov, who is bestowed the name "The voice". He describes his music as a fusion of pop-opera and world with a fine touch of electronica. I have not had the chance to hear much of his works, but after last evening I am not very willing to do that. I wish at this time I started praising his song "Illusion" and being proud of what we are sending to Moscow. Sadly this is not the case and positivism has failed to arrive on time for this show.

The song "Illusion" is a tasteless, blunt and even irritating example of kitsch that some try to pass as contemporary music. Style fusion may be the newest trend, but this doesn't mean that everything created under its influences is worthy. Few can have the commercial success of Sarah Brightman, who managed to establish herself as both an opera singer and as a new age/contemporary singer, and obviously Mr. Avramov is still somewhere in between. Unfortunately for him "Illusion" is anything but soothing to the ear and if I were him I'd reconsider my professional strives. His vocal abilities are doubtful and rather mediocre compared to what other contestants showed at the Final. In addition Avramov lacks any stage presence, despite his efforts to be original.

Definitely I am no expert when it comes to opera and I am not in the right to comment the vocal abilities in this music sphere...and still I am not deaf. This high-pitched operatic voice of his just did not match the whole concept of a Medieval battle and a lust crusade. Few are those who may find anything sexy in a man who sounds like someone has squeezed his dignity, especially when this is to reach millions of households. I've watched the official at least several times and still cannot figure out the idea behind it. Oh, and I wonder how it managed to pass censorship having in mind the visible frontal nudity...wasn't this video to be shown at daytime? Not that I've ever had the chance to watch it anywhere but the internet.

After Bulgaria's Eurovision Final I do doubt whether we have to participate in this year's edition. Probably nobody is going to notice our absence and I am pretty sure no one is to support "Illusion" when it comes to voting. It just doesn't deserve it and I don't fell guilty when I am saying it. It will remain the absolute mystery how this song actually received 55% of all the votes sent last evening, but let's say that with the right amount of money any dream can come true. It is another question on what price!

St. Valentine is such a dumb celebration and I've never understood the whole concept of it. Why do I need a special day in the year in order to show my love towards anyone? 14th February is nothing more than a date in the calender and if you are not in love or in a relationship, perhaps, you are obliged to drink till you blackout in despair. I admit that I am far from being a fan of my country's music, but there are songs that even I like. Stuck in my mind: Depeche Mode - People are People

These days I have no time for a proper listen to some new artists and albums, that is why I am spending a bit more time on what I already have. It usually happens to me that I have a song of the day which just keeps rolling in my head and sometimes I even sing it to myself in public. Well, finding some free time in between I decided to post a song that some of you might have forgotten it, others liked it for many years and some not having heard of it. Actually this is part of my Depeche Mode - Ladytron concert in May warming up and now I am spending some more time with Dave Gahan and company. Hooray for good music and us being there to appreciate it.

N.O.H.A. - Tu Café

N.O.H.A. stands for Noise Of Human Art and is an international music groups, which makes predominantly jazz-influenced world music with flavours of ambient, electronica and DnB. They are similar to such groups as De-Phazz and Koop, but with more ethno than a regular nu-jazz band would use. Their lead singer is Spanish, the rapping is provided by an American, the saxophonist is Czech and on keys a German. They managed to reach the Bulgarian audience with one of their newest songs called Tu Café, which is entirely sung in Spanish. The song is both radio-friendly and suits any club party with its catchy lyrics and dance tune. I've searched for more of them and they have some more great songs, although most of the material is not very suitable for a dance floor, more likely for a club to chill-out.

Stuck in my mind: TV on the Radio - Satellite

Today I am gonna be pretty short. I wish I had something to write about, but all day long there is just one song in my head: "Satellite" by TV on the Radio. I've had this song for almost three years, but just today I got all the beauty of it and it surely made my day. I have listened to some stuff by this American indie/experimental/alternative group...I just couldn't get into them. Still "Satellite" is so damn good, that I'll check them once again, this time with real desire and more patience.
